Parcel Post Cuts Assailed by Letter Carriers Leader
Jerome J. Keating president of the National Association of Letter Carriers told a House postoffice subcommittee that parcel post curtailments hit about 65 percent of volume not 6 percent as Postmaster General Gronouski stated. He said 58,000 temporary workers lack job protections and some have been laid off. Senate appropriations panel urged maintaining Saturday service as it backed over 5 billion dollars for the Post Office for the coming fiscal year.
