Travelmaster Rally Brings Warm Hospitality to Monroe Fairgrounds

The Travelmaster mobile home group gathered at Green County Fairgrounds for a long weekend in Monroe and nearby New Glarus. Members from Iowa to Michigan pitched trailers, toured towns, and joined a nucleus of potluck meals, bake sales, and dances. Murray and Pauline O Connor of Janesville led the event, with local hospitality from Monroe Chamber of Commerce signs and the Green County Boots and Saddle Club show.

Three youths die in Lafayette Highway 151 crash

A head on collision three miles north of Belmont on Highway 151 kills three youths, ages 18 and 15, and injures another, with Danny Christen, Richard Wilson, and Tom Faherty identified as the deceased and Ronald Mann as the injured. Christen and Wilson are Belmont and Platteville natives. funeral notices follow. The crash involved a northbound pickup and a car, both vehicles burning on impact.

Dairy Day Parade and Dairy Queen Crownings Planned Countywide

Queens across Green County will be crowned for Dairy Day on June 21 with dairy cattle judging parades and flower shows. Browntown and Monroe events highlight local queen selections among 11 finalists. entries are sought for the Flower Show to be held at the Bank of Brodhead.

Band To Rehearse For Dairy Day Event

All Monroe High School Band members are reminded of a rehearsal for Dairy Day. They will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the High School Band Room. Those who graduated this year are included, said band director Joseph Rieraldo.

Coronation Is Tonight Finalists Named In Queen Voting

Three finalists for Monroe Community Dairy Queen were announced by chair Mrs. Roger Stauffacher. They are Coralyn Carlson Darleen Rufener and Dianne Wyss. Judges will choose this afternoon at First National Bank with the envelope opening at 8:30 p.m. after a Rotary Club dinner. The program includes a concert by the Monroe City Band and a Richland 4-H Ice Cream Social.

Rockford Men Confess Thefts

Two Rockford men pleaded guilty in Madison Federal Court to thefts at the Bank of Albany on Sept. 10, 1968 and the Blue River Branch of the Boscobel State Bank on June 23, 1968. Dennis L. Hoover 22 will return to Vandalia State Prison under $20,000 bail to finish a burglary sentence. Dean L. Smith 25 goes to Fox Lake Correctional Institution to serve a Janesville burglary sentence. They face sentencing in about a month after probation investigation. Hoover stole a set of keys for lock boxes inside a vault.

Three From Area Credited With Aid To Accident Victims

A Green County trio aided a Des Moines family after a car veered off Illinois Highway 2 and sank in a creek. Dale Belke and Jodene Belke with Dan Schuur pulled out the grandparents Leonard and Phoebe Erickson, their son Charles, his wife the driver, and the two young girls. All were treated with the grandparents and son in fair condition and released information notes the other two children were treated and released.
