Elizabeth Stuessy has been named recipient of the Albert T. Lundgren nursing scholarship, a $350 grant renewable next year. She is a Monroe High School 1968 graduate and was named Monroe’s Career Girl of 1968. Stuessy studied at Eau Claire State University and is enrolled at Madison General Hospital, with a record of active school involvement and service in clubs and student exchanges.

River Excursions Opens Twin Paddle Wheeler Lady M Service
River Excursions in East Dubuque operates the Lady M on the Mississippi from Chestnut Mountain Lodge Dock to Galena Ferry Landing. Regular one and two hour trips start at 11 a.m. daily through Labor Day and weekends through October. Lady M seats 150 and can be chartered for private groups with Capt. Hartney narrating river lore. The remains of John L. Lewis were laid to rest early today at Oakridge Cemetery Springfield next to his wife with only family present. Lewis head of the United Mine Workers for about 40 years died June 11 in Washington at age 89.
