Deputy Testimony Ties Four Whites to Coed Assault Case

A Florida deputy testified that within hours after the incident a confession implicated four white youths in the assault of a Black coed. The deputy quoted statements from Ollie Stoutamire Patrick Scarborough Willian Collinsworth and David Beagles as the trial proceeded. The case involves a capital offense and the victim described begging for mercy as the four men harmed her.

Herman F. Stoll, Monticello Resident, Dies at 74

Herman F. Stoll, 74, of Monticello, died at 8 a.m. today at his home from a heart condition after a month of illness. Born in Mokena, Illinois, he studied in Joliet, served in World War I officer training, and held posts at Share Chicago Printing Co. and a silica plant. He married Edyth Blum in 1943 and was active in multiple Masons and Shrine chapters. Burial is at Highland Cemetery after services Monday at Zwingli Church.

Jane Dakin Found Insane After Parents Slain

Seventeen year old Jane Dakin admitted shooting her parents Thomas and Elizabeth on December 1 claiming innocence by reason of insanity. Psychiatrists Dr. James Hurley and Dr. Michael Kasak testified there was no logical motive and that Dakin was insane the night of the killings.

Klein urges persistent promotion for dairy sales

W J Klein of Allis Chalmers told Monroe Kiwanis members at Turner hall that education and persistence are key to selling dairy products. He urged marketing from the user’s view, promoting cheese as a staple and stressing Limburger’s odor and taste as a challenge. More than 160 people attended the Green County Dairy Month luncheon where Klein and Mrs Klein were presented cheese gifts.

Boston Hunted Mad Bomber After Transit Station Blast

Boston officers launched a large search for a suspected mad bomber after a bomb exploded in a Metropolitan Transit Authority elevated station. Thirty eight injured, six in the waiting room, as a 20 to 25 pound powder charge shattered the pagoda style station and halted a nearby train. Monticello Youth Charged in Theft

A 17 year old rural Monticello youth will face juvenile court charges after a Brooklyn break in at the Anchor Club. $200, a new .22 rifle and ammunition were recovered at a farm home. The youth is in county jail awaiting proceedings. cooperation from local officers aided the quick closure.

Two Men Dead in Tomah Area Headon Collision
