School Vandalism Prompts Warning

Eisenhower urges Congress to lift bond interest ceilings

President Eisenhower asked Congress to remove the 3 percent savings bond ceiling and the 4 percent cap on long term marketable bonds. He also sought to raise the permanent debt limit from 283 to 288 billion and the temporary cap to 295 billion dollars amid a public debt near 286 billion.

Hot Humid Weather Spurs Big Pool Opening at Recreation Park

Heat and humidity drew 774 visitors to the local pool as temperatures topped 89 with a line forming before opening at 2 p.m. Yesterday. James J. Maloney, Former Secret Service Chief, Dies at 63

James Joseph Maloney, 63, former chief of the Secret Service, died Sunday at a veterans hospital in Clearwater Florida after a stroke. The longtime public servant had led the agency in prior years and was commemorated by colleagues and veterans groups.

Camporee guides scouts on five mile Blanchardville trail

About 150 scouts and leaders joined Valley District Boy Scouts for the annual Camporee at Blanchardville with two plotted five mile trails. Patrols tested compass morse code and trail signs, awarding Flaming Arrow Troop 138 for the trail test and neckerchief slides and songs at a campfire hosted by Roy Hefty.

In Green Bay the Republican convention named three 1960 targets a Democratic Assembly majority an opposition Senate minority and a Democratic governor Nelson. Mail Delivered By New Guided Missile

The Post Office Department reports the first successful mail delivery by a guided Regulus missile launched from a U S submarine in the Atlantic. Raymond R. Pat Kubly Jr was named president of the Monroe high school Alumni Association at the annual dance in the old high school gym attended by about 300 people. Davis Favored as GOP Choice for Wisconsin Governor

Green Bay delegates backed former Rep. Glenn Davis of Waukesha as the preferred Republican candidate for governor in a GOP convention poll. Nixon led the presidential race with 490 votes. Davis led Thomson 285 to 138 among 612 delegates with others and scattered votes totaling the rest.

Target Holder Killed by Child at Pittsburgh Exposition

Mamie Peniman a 38 year old entertainer known as Wild Bill Cody was fatally shot at the Pittsburgh Bicentennial Exposition while holding rifles during a trick shooting act. Two Youths Drowned in Wolf River Drownings

Two youths died in separate Wolf River incidents in Waupaca County. David Kelley, 15, of Manawa, drowned when his raft capsized. brother Joseph, 17, was rescued. In Fremont, 17-year-old Thomas Campbell of New London died when his motorboat overturned as two companions reached shore. Barbara Jean Cooper, 9, of Milwaukee, died after falling into the Milwaukee River. divers recovered her body.

Tragic Phoenix Bus Crash Kills Sixteen Farm Workers

Sixteen Mexican laborers died and 32 were injured when a crudely built bus converted from a truck rammed a tree near Phoenix and exploded. Driver Nate Manuel Gloria Jr said he dozed at the wheel and planned to hand control to an assistant at a nearby intersection. The crash, the worst traffic collision in Arizona history, left many charred bodies and burned survivors.

Fire Reported At City Dump

City firefighters were dispatched to the municipal dump to extinguish a blaze at 1 20 p m today with authorities reporting a contained incident and no injuries.
