A World War II B24 bomber with nine crew remains found in Libya's desert 380 miles south of Bengazi. The plane, nearly intact with working radio, was last seen in 1943 en route to Naples. Scouts To Hold Sluggers School In Wisconsin
The fourth annual Silver Sluggers Baseball School co sponsored by The Monroe Evening Times and Milwaukee Sentinel with the Milwaukee Braves will be at Recreation Park June 18 and 19 starting at 5 p.m. Players aged 16 to 21 will receive big league training from Braves scouts and instructors Allen Elger and Emil Belich. Elger and Belich, former Dodgers and Pirates affiliates respectively, will cover throwing batting and fielding across positions. Attendance is open to locals and observers but no field access.

In Hazard Kentucky a 25 year old coal miner Bobby Jenkins Jr was killed after a trooper shot during an arrest attempt for firing on a nonunion trucker Chester Blair 20 was wounded in a separate line of gunfire as tensions rose in the United Mine Workers 1959 contract strike at Kodak Coal Co near Sassafass Perry County. Columbus Haddix 42 a UMW member was arrested on a shooting charge.
