Staff Selected For Bible School In City Churches

The Monroe Vacation Bible school opening yesterday names staff and teachers across six grades from Kindergarten through Junior High. The program runs each weekday morning for two weeks under the Monroe Council of Churches with Mrs. Schwerin as superintendent and Rev. Mouw supervising Junior High.

Dale Eggleston 14 Dies After Illness in Brodhead

Dale R Eggleston aged 14 died at Wisconsin General hospital at 12 15 AM after a two month nephritis illness. Born Sept 5 1944 in Willow Lake SD he was a freshman at Brodhead high. Survivors include mother and stepfather Emil Bates father Clyde Eggleston two sisters Redgie Allen and Michael Hilligan two half brothers Terry and Larry Bates grandfather John LaBore. Services Thursday 2 PM at Brodhead Methodist Church with Rev Leatherman officiating burial Greenwood cemetery Brodhead. Friends may call Wednesday night.

Dairy Month Speaker Set At Kiwanis Luncheon

Swimming Pool Crowds Surge in Monroe Park

Ronald D. Johnson the park and recreation director urged Monroe residents to wait until after 3 30 p m to enter the pool to avoid long waits. Capacity is 300 and attendance has been the highest on the first two open days with 999 admitted yesterday and 774 on Sunday. Over $1 000 in season tickets have been sold and family tickets are growing in popularity. A 15 minute rest period from 3 15 to 3 30 p m each afternoon requires swimmers to leave the water to allow others in.

Opening Slated For Playground Activities In Monroe

Monroe's playground program starts at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Recreation Park with Ron Johnson announcing the plan. Arts and crafts run 1:30 to 3 p.m. led by Janet Beckman and Jane Thompson, tennis instruction begins this week, archery next Monday, and four instruction classes run hourly from 1 to 4 p.m. The Dan'l Boone club begins at 3 p.m. at the Craft House with hiking and nature study. Baseball and softball for boys begin at 1 p.m., with age groups at 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Girls kickball at 3 p.m., swimming signups Friday. Johnson emphasizes flexible participation and no long-term commitments.

Midwest seeks convicted slayer Albert White Jr.

Albert White Jr. 39, convicted slayer of two Orfordville men, is being sought across several Midwest states after a report of a sighting in Rock County. He jumped parole in Georgia last year and may return to Orfordville where witnesses against him testified in 1953. White was convicted of second degree manslaughter and sentenced to 14 to 25 years. Local authorities canceled his parole and warn he may retaliate against witnesses.
