Brodhead Youths Injured When Tractor Tip Over

Two Brodhead youths were hospitalized at St. Clare after a tractor tipped over. Steven A Schee, 9, suffered a pelvic contusion and multiple abrasions. Shirl Laube Jr., 18, sustained contusions to the shoulder chest and left leg. They were admitted yesterday at 1:30 p.m.

Schutte Youth Faces Months in Hospital

Pierre Schutte son of George A. Schutte of 2116 16th Street was injured in a Nebraska truck collision during a June trip to California with friend Mike Brennan. At St. Clare Hospital he is described as doing pretty well with a broken leg in five places. Complications from a cast require skin grafts, and he faces two to three more months in confinement.

Aviation Medicine Shamburek Ends European Tour

Lt. Col. Roland Shamburek chief of Aviation Branch in the Army Surgeon General’s Office completed a three year Europe tour as aviation medicine consultant stationed in Heidelberg Germany with his wife Gladys and three sons. He returned June 7 to resume duties in Washington and had previously served at Fort Sill and Darmstadt along with time in the Canary Islands and across Europe. The family visited hometown friends before rejoining duties in aviation medicine.

In Chicago, Pure Milk Association raises Class 1 milk price to 4.22 dollars per hundredweight, 30 cents above the previous superpool level. The move, announced by PMA general manager A. J. The nine cent stamp commemorating the 175th anniversary of the Bill of Rights is now available at the Monroe Post Office after debuting in Miami Beach. The shield design features two hands. a gauntleted fist for tyranny and a bare hand for freedom. Initial print run is 115 million in panels of 50.

Jelle Buys Church As Storage Building For Machinery

Montrose Township’s nearly century old Montrose Method 1st Church was sold to Merlin Jelle of New Glarus, who runs Merlin Jelle Construction Co. He will use the building to store his machinery and tools and for cabinet work. Services had ceased two years earlier, and locals’ bids to save the church as a museum failed as sale preparations progressed.

Sheriff Attends Wisconsin Sheriff Conference in Land O Lakes

Sheriff W. E. Dein inger participated in the Wisconsin Sheriff's and Deputy Sheriffs Association Mid Summer Conference at the Gateway Hotel Land O Lakes Tuesday and Wednesday.
