Judge Harold J Lamboley presided on offenses including Charles Behnke Jr of Brooklyn cited for operating a motor vehicle in excess of contract carrier authority, judged guilty with $0 and costs. Bestrice Foods Co of Beloit found guilty for no registration with $5 and costs. Montgomery Ward Co of Monroe also found guilty for no registration with $5 and costs.
Browntown resident pleads nolo contendere for operating an unregistered vehicle and faces $5 plus costs. Also listed are recent deaths and birth notices with names and dates from Freeport Rockford Madison Belleville Warren New Glarus and surrounding areas.
Special report from Cedarville: Ralph Cummins aged 58 lost the index finger and fingertip tips on his right hand when caught in a spice grinding mill at W. T. Raleigh Co. Freeport. He is hospitalized at Deaconess in Freeport in satisfactory condition.

Monroe Junior Chamber of Commerce plans to name high school seniors as honorary members. One youth will be chosen monthly for the remainder of the school year to attend meetings. Selection will be by a yet unnamed teacher.

Wilbur E. Deininger left for the Wisconsin Sheriff and Deputy Sheriffs Association convention in Manitowoc. The event runs three days with a 1:30 p.m. general meeting today and a public forum at 7:30 p.m. Officers will be elected tomorrow and Gay Kohler will give Thursday’s address. Top state officials will speak during the event.

The family sought to raise funds by midnight but failed, prompting Inspector James English to publish a negotiation ad. A later call confirmed the extortion plan and warned against bargaining. The brothers own a local real estate and insurance business and reside in neighboring homes.
