The annual report shows St. Clare hospital in 1953 added a resident pathologist registered laboratory technician a bacteriologist and two registered physical therapists. A new blood bank tissue pathology lab and equipment enhance rapid diagnosis and life saving care.
The March of Dimes Elkhorn chapter plans a Circuit Court injunction to allow fundraising for the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. Watts, chair of the local drive, argues the 17 year old ordinance violates the Constitution by restricting solicitations for the annual March of Dimes campaign. The group challenged the ordinance 10 days earlier.
Milwaukee service station attendant Victor Mueller, adopted twice, was declared legal heir to the estate of his aunt Barbara Leichtenberg who died January 7, 1953 at age 79 with an estate valued at $200,000. Mueller’s claim faced challenges from 22 relatives, but Circuit Judge William J. Tolby ruled the second adoption did not nullify the first, granting him heir status.
Gov. Kohler commends Harald J. Lamboley for years of service as Green County judge before Lamboley resigns to head the Knights of Columbus legal advocacy in New Haven Connecticut. He also resigns from the governor's commission on human rights and a replacement attorney for Green County will be named. Four candidates previously mentioned are Louis A Koenig Roger L Elmer Marshall L Peterson and John P Derning.
O N Johnson of 1650 Isra avenue is named as Shrine regional aide to act as personal representative for potentate Laurion J Caldwell in Janesville. Johnson previously led Green County Shriners as president in 1946 and served as secretary two years. W S MacDonald of Monroe is outer guard of the divisional appointive body.
Water service around the storm sewer project at 16th avenue and 12th street will be off most of the day tomorrow while the main is relocated. The affected area extends south of 16th avenue from 1th street to the senior high school and down to 14th street at 15th avenue.
A Senate hearing criticized the plan to dispose of a billion dollars in government held farm products overseas. Sen Schoeppel told Secretary Benson the proposal could disrupt world markets while Benson argued portions would be sold or gifted to foster new markets and goodwill. Benson said gifts like to East Germany and Pakistan reflect pattern rather than dollar aid and that disruption is not intended.
General Motors announced a billion dollar expansion, with 60 percent spent this year and the rest by fall 1955, aimed at boosting capacity for its automotive divisions. President Harlow H. Curtice spoke to 500 business leaders at a GM Motorama prep luncheon. He noted two billion dollars already spent on expansion since World War II.
PLYMOUTH Wis. Lawrence G Butler president of Lakeshire-Marty Co named production manager of the Borden Cheese Division with New York headquarters. He has led Lakeshire-Marty since 1944 and supervised Wisconsin cheese operations. Vilas R Butler will become president of Lakeshire-Marty.
Milwaukee County's jobless total is expected to hold near 20,000 until the seasonal and winter parkae ing industries pick up after April 1, according to the Wisconsin State Employment Service on Monday.
The exchange over unrepentant war prisoners in Korea escalated as Reds demand India keep custody of POWs and refuse repatriation. Indian officials say transfers to U N custody will begin Wednesday with anti Red prisoners moved south to neutral zones. Generals Hull and Taylor plan to monitor the process with Secretary Stevens at Munson.
Trading picked up speed in New York as the stock market advanced moderately. Gains reached about 2 points at the peak while several small declines persisted. Higher issues included Southern Railway Sunray Oil Richfield Oil Universal Pictures Phillips Petroleum American Telephone Consolidated Natural Gas Du Pont U S Steel Chrysler Douglas Aircraft and National Distillers.
Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Department reports Monroe among 17 cities with 5 000 to 10 000 population recording no traffic deaths in 1953. Monroe last fatality was 1951, earning another plaque for the police department. Green County totaled nine deaths in 1953, up from four in 1952, with Lafayette County at five and Iowa County at six. Seven cities in the 10 000-25 000 range also had death-free records.
Afternoon fire guts Hyland's Cities Service station at 13th Street when a floor chemical compound exploded in the garage area. Fire Chief H L Sickinger says the blast started the fire. James Hyland in the office escaped injury though a window was blown out.
Washington report notes President Eisenhower nibbled cheese and ham and drank tomato juice at a Washington hotel reception Monday. He spoke briefly with Senator McCarthy who joked about snubbing the President, then shook hands with reporters as they watched.
Washington Senate debate on the St. Lawrence Seaway legislation faced a setback as Sen. Morse objected to limiting discussion. Majority Leader Knowland sought a noon Wednesday date, while Lang urged funds from Congress and noted Canada could build the project on its side. Opponents warn of late amendments and a possible Thursday test.
Camp McCoy to widen summer program as Col. George P. Long announces, troops move in late April to prepare facilities for June arrivals. Opening contingent includes the 70th and 85th reserve infantry divisions with July training for the 45th Infantry and two reserve divisions. Wisconsin's 32nd National Guard division and the 58th reserve division take over in August.

Milwaukee Wisconsin Restaurant Association calls for federal probe into rising coffee prices. Elmer Conforti executive secretary wired Sen Wiley and Pan American Coffee Bureau to request explanations. He notes restaurants are not raising coffee prices but offering teas and other beverages to cut costs.
In San Francisco a real estate broker Leonard Moskovitz, 36, was abducted and held for 300000 dollars. Suspects Harold Jackson, 57, and Joe Lear, 43, both of Sacramento, were arrested after Lear was tracked while speaking with the victim’s family. No ransom paid. Moskovitz praised police.
The Senate interior committee approved statehood for Hawaii and Alaska. Chairman Butler said the Alaska addition was as close as could be, with roll call kept secret in a closed session. The panel merged the bills and delayed reporting until Alaska section is perfected.
A new government led by left of center Christian Democrat Amintore Fanfani was sworn in today as hostile press attacks the administration. It must seek a vote of confidence in Parliament on January 2 when it presents its program.
