Wayne D Moen 35 Belleville dies after brain surgery at University of Wisconsin Madison following a Feb 8 snowmobile accident. He was a finish carpenter for Waubesa Builders and survived by his wife Lynda, mother Helga, three children Dixie Scott and Randy and three sisters. Burial at Adams Lutheran cemetery with Blanchardville American Legion honors.

Mrs. Lloyd Piensance reports near-miss Sunday morning when she almost stepped into a deep, water filled cistern hole behind her 1824 10th St home. The eight foot pit formed after a cistern cave in, with ground thawing loosening the cover. City officials roped off the area as workers dig and assess nearby old cisterns.

Fire engulfs large dairy barn near Cedarville
A large dairy barn on the Merlin Fernstaedt farm two miles northwest of Cedarville burned Sunday afternoon in an undetermined origin fire. About 200 cows were saved, eight to ten thousand bales of hay destroyed, and equipment damaged. Firefighters from Cedarville, with aid from McConnell and Orangeville, fought the blaze as milking is moved to a nearby farm. The Fernstaedts plan to rebuild. Proceeds from a charity supper at the Eagles Clubrooms March 1 will aid Robert Wilde, recovering after brain surgery and related complications.

Clarence Thorson 66 of Route 1 Orfordville stays in critical condition at St. Clare Hospital with severe head injuries from a Friday afternoon collision near Orfordville. His son John was treated for a bruised forehead and released. The car’s driver Mrs Norman Gunderson remains hospitalized with concussion severe lacerations and multiple bruises. her daughter Norman also hospitalized with concussion facial and jaw fractures and a dislocated hip.
