Guard Muster Week To Begin In Wisconsin

Gov. Warren P. Knowles proclaims Guard Muster Week starting February 22. The National Guard has been mobilized for federal duty five times and answered state duties over 50 times in its history. Last week 1,900 Guardsmen were at the University of Wisconsin to quell student disturbances, with most now returning home from the Madison area.

Man in Critical Condition After Route 1 Collision

Clarence Thorson a 66 year old from Orfordville remains in critical condition at St. Clare Hospital after a car truck crash at County Trunk B and Wisconsin 213 near Orfordville yesterday. Norma Gunderson eight years old is in intensive care with concussion facial and jaw fractures and a dislocated hip. Mrs. Norman Gunderson thirty four from Brodhead is in satisfactory condition with concussion severe forehead lacerations knee injuries and multiple bruises. Thorson’s son John suffered a bruised forehead and is expected to be released today. The truck carrying corn was struck on the side by the car. Gov Warren P Knowles will attend the National Governor’s Conference in Washington and will view the Apollo launch at Cape Kennedy next week.

Brown Swiss Supports Fair Voegels Chosen 'Man of Year'

The Wisconsin Brown Swiss Association backed the State Fair in Milwaukee and urged agriculture to remain part of the fair program. The 53rd annual meeting drew many breeders, with Willis Freitag outlining agriculture’s role and Howard Voegels named to an all breed committee. James Price was re elected secretary. John Voegels became treasurer. Ed Gearing was reelected vice president. Also noted are efforts to support the World Dairy Expo in Madison via memberships and rooster cards, and the 1969 Man of the Year Jake Voegels.

Style Event Is March 11 Jaycettes Show Will Help Charity

The Jaycettes Style Show on Tuesday March 11 at Turner Hall Monroe features two performances at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Proceeds fund charity projects for 1969 70 including Green County Hospital mental health and cerebral palsy efforts. Proceeds support supplies, transport, and activity programs for hospital patients and CP clinics, plus civic and youth programs in Monroe.
