Scout Banquet Honors Eagle Award Recipient Steve Hennager

Steve Hennager, 16, Monroe High School junior, received the Eagle award at a Court of Honor in the Fellowship Room of the Methodist Church. The ceremony, part of a family pot luck for about 100 guests, featured Dr. Harold Held and Clarence Seaton as sponsors.

Artistically Known Monroe Native Arthur Johnson Dies

Arthur L. Johnson 68 formerly of Monroe died at his Colusa California home on Sunday February 16 at 7 20 p m from a coronary occur sion. He worked at Green County Lumber Company for over 20 years and later at Green County Farm as a fireman before retiring. His paintings are in the University of Wisconsin permanent rural art collection and include I C Spur in Monroe on 12th Street Peaceful Valley and a fire scene from the Fitzgibbons Building now at the Monroe Fire Department. Johnson and his wife moved to Colusa in October 1968 where their son David and family live. David works in Colusa newspaper printing and is a former Monroe Evening Times printer.
