Green County Board Approves Insurance Plan Over Objections
The Green County Board voted unanimously to approve a contract with New York Life Insurance Co. for hospitalization insurance for county employees, despite highway department objections. 45 highway employees dropped from the plan, saving $188.15 monthly but raising individual costs from 5.77 to 6.32. A fact finding hearing on highway union requests and county proposals is set for Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Circuit Courtroom. JFK Half Dollars Begin Minting at Two U.S. Mints
New Kennedy half dollars were struck simultaneously at Philadelphia and Denver mints. Four coins were minted at each site with Eva Adams present. The coins will be given to President Johnson for delivery to Mrs Kennedy and children. When 26 million are produced they go to banks and public release in late March or April.
