Fire destroys 300 sacks of mail in Milwaukee yard
About 300 bags of mail were destroyed in a fire that swept a mail car in the Milwaukee Road yards. Firemen arrived as the car was engulfed. The cause was not yet determined, with the blaze lagging shortly before 5 a.m.

Woman Drives Auto Into Madison Liquor Store
Grace Short, 37, said she was delivering a pizza to a friend when an out of control car crashed into a West Washington avenue liquor store early today. The building suffered about 4 000 dollars in damage and the car 2 000 dollars. Short with facial cuts and possible hip injury was hospitalized. Police charged her with driving with a temporary permit and losing control. the car owner Earl Karowsky was charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive.

Milwaukee Police Theft Probe Limited to Three Officers
Police Chief Howard O Johnson said a burglary investigation leading to the dismissal of three officers is confined to one precinct and concerns only three policemen. He testified as reports swirled of a major shakeup in the department. Sgt Donald G Weier, 33, who admitted receiving a battery police believed stolen in a service station burglary last Saturday, was dismissed Thursday. The loot totaled 296 dollars in cash. Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation Of INS Building In DC
A second day of evacuations occurred at the Immigration and Naturalization Service building in downtown Washington after an anonymous caller warned of a bomb at 10 am. Police searched the six story site at 119 D Street NE with no devices found and 350 employees were sent back to work. A Spanish accented call echoed similar threats, claiming to target the building to bar access for the caller’s brother and saying it would be blown up again after a Thursday failure.

Parolee Nabbed In Pastor Killing
Jackson Michigan reports state police say parolee Lynn E. Houck admitted tying up 72 year old Rev Roy R Decker and leaving him to die in a fire at a Brookly Michigan farm home. Houck claimed accidental ignition from an electric heater though police dispute that. He fled with Decker's car key and $40 after the victim was bound and the blaze began. Decker and his wife Grace had moved to Tecumseh after retiring from Grace Methodist Church in Meadville Pennsylvania. Houck, previously sentenced in 1950 for burglary, was in custody following arrest near the death scene.
