Trumpy Line Famous Oldest Holstein Herd Set for Auction
The oldest privately owned pure bred Holstein-Friesian herd in the United States, the Frank Trumpy herd of 85 cattle with 78 years of constructive breeding, will be auctioned Thursday at the Trumpy farm six miles south of Monroe in Green County. Bank at Merton Robbed of 3000 in Hold Up
Two men robbed the Pewaukee State Bank Merton branch escaping with about 3000. Assistant Cashier Fred Staus fired at the getaway car and the holdup men as they fled. A deer rifle and a revolver were used. The car fled northwest on Highway 74 toward Highway 83. Police broadcast the license plate and car description across the state. Roadblocks set up in Waukesha County as witnesses reported a similar prior week theft in Lake Geneva.

Park Forest resident Terry Harroun was hospitalized after his eastbound car left Highway 11 east of Monroe around midnight. Deputies reported possible back injuries and facial cuts from front end damage after he fell asleep at the wheel. A second crash at 2 a.m. near Monroe involved Donald D. Davis of Orangeville, who said he also fell asleep and struck guard posts and a utility pole along Highway 69 four miles south of Monroe.

Grants to area hospitals and colleges from Ford Foundation gift
St Clare hospital Monroe will receive 61800 to improve public services as part of a 500 million Ford Foundation gift to privately supported hospitals and colleges.
