In Pine Bluff Arkansas a Salvation Army family of four living on sixty dollars a week has adopted four orphaned children after their retiree father died on Thanksgiving Day. Captain Bill McFarland and his wife refuse to name or photograph the youths, ages 11 14 15 and 16, as they join the McFarlands three children in a Salvation Army provided three bedroom home. The Pure Milk Association announced the Department of Agriculture approved a referendum on Chicago and South Bend milk marketing orders. Two thirds of local dairy farmers must ratify to implement the amended orders, which reduce milk classes from three to two and simplify accounting.
