New pool hours for the rest of the season include Wednesday 1 to 5 and 6 30 to 8 30 p.m. Thursday 4 to 8 30 p.m. Friday 4 to 5 and 6 30 to 9 p.m. Saturday 1 to 5 and 6 30 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The last day for swimming is Monday Labor Day.

Amish School Attendance Appeal Set For Motions Day
Mrs. Helen F. Myers, clerk of Green County Circuit Court, set the first appearance for 30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 on the Notice of Appeal from Judge Roger L. Elmer’s verdict upholding Amish parents’ conviction for unlawfully keeping teenage children from school. Attorneys William B. Ball and Thomas C. Eckerle represent the defendants. Wallace Miller and Jonas Yoder were fined $5 with no costs. Adin Yutzy moved out of the county before trial.

Well Known Monroe Resident Mrs Baumgartner Dies at 97
Mrs. Samuel Anna Baumgartner aged 97 died at 12 10 am Tuesday August 26 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe after six days there. Born November 2 1871 in Schwartzenegg Switzerland she lived with nephew Sam Waelti 13 years and later with husband Samuel Baumgartner cheese makers at multiple factories. The longtime Republican voter known as Aunt Annie was the last of her family, survived by nieces and nephews. husband died in 1944.

The 32nd annual Wilhelm Tell opens this weekend in an outdoor amphitheatre near New Glarus with 200 local cast members. English performances on Aug 30 and Sep 1 at 1 30 p.m. German version Aug 31 at 1 30 p.m. Expected crowd exceeds 10 000. The show features horses cattle goats and St Bernard dogs and sound experts who accompanied Nixon on his campaign. Swiss music program Aug 30 8 p.m. at the high school gym. Final Concert Draws A Crowd To Twining Park
The Twining Park Bandshell hosted a final summer concert with square dancing by the State Line Square Dancers and a memorial gift of six band chairs by Mrs. Evans in memory of former superintendent E. O. Evans. A new dance group forms with sessions starting Sept. 15 at the Monroe Community Center. Next performance is Sept. 8 at Churchill Woods Apartments, followed by weekly rehearsals at Monroe High School for the winter series.
