Three Lives Lost In Area Accidents
Three area residents died in weekend traffic incidents. Larry Zweifel, 17, of Belleville, died after a three car collision on Highway 69. Joe Kjelland, 25, of Footville, and Paul Johnson, 22, rural Janesville, perished when their car left the road near Footville. Kjelland and Johnson were Vietnam veterans and GM employees at Janesville. Funeral services are scheduled for Aug 26 for both men. Zweifel’s funeral is set for Aug 26 in Belleville.

More than 3 000 people attended the afternoon demonstrations at the 33rd Fall Fire School of the Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois Firemen's Association at the Green County Fairgrounds. Monroe volunteers and Chief Joe Benkett were praised for hosting and local preparations.

Two year old Matthew James Marchant son of Emery and Marjorie Marchant died when a tractor wheel ran over him at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Rock County. Coroner ruled accidental death, no inquest. Survived by parents a brother and grandparents. Services set for Aug 26 at Newcomer Funeral Home Brodhead with burial in Union Cemetery Oakley.

Albany Police Had Busy Weekend Says Chief Glaser
Albany police logged 15 cases from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon including a lost dog found near Paul Stefanik farm and two outside village accidents. Deputy Sheriff Glaser reported a hit and run in the 100 block of North Water Street and a man charged with no license and alcohol violations.
