Argyle Celebration Kicks Off With Pre Labor Day Events

The 11th annual Legion Firemen Pre Labor Day Celebration opens at Legion Community Park this weekend with a Home Talent Show on Saturday. Sunday features a tractor pulling contest at 1 PM with a $450 purse, a 7 PM tug of war and a championship baseball game, plus free dances Saturday and Sunday nights.

Old Building Replaced By Service Station Site

The Monroe Sales Co. building at 9th Street and 16th Avenue is being razed to clear space for a new service station. Southeast Wisconsin Oil Corp. bought the site this month to install two 12 000 gallon underground gasoline tanks, while Erickson Oil Co. of Minneapolis plans the project. Salvage of windows, glass, and fixtures is offered, with bids sought as razing proceeds and construction to start after demolition.
