Holiday in New Glarus record brings Swiss music to town
The Swiss of New Glarus release a 12 inch phonograph record featuring the Edelweiss Stars New Glarus Yodellers Wilhelm Tell bell ringers and others. Recording began in May and finished by mid June at Sauk City Cuca Co studios. RCA Victor Co manufactured the records with distribution planned in the United States and Switzerland.

Janesville man drowns after boat topple on Rock Lake
Donald Eddie Courtney, 21, of Janesville, drowned when he toppled from a fishing boat about 200 yards from the north end of Rock Lake. His companion Dennis Anden, 16, also fell in but reentered the boat. Courtney’s parents were nearby but did not witness the accident.

Federal officials in Wisconsin moved to seize devices sold as diagnostic machines but labeled worthless by the FDA. About 25 units exist in the state with seizures already at Juneau and Stoughton. Ernest Buholzer Dies at 69. longtime cheesemaker
Ernest J. Buholzer 69 retired cheesemaker and honorary Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association member died at 5 30 p m yesterday in the VA hospital Madison from a heart condition. A WWI veteran he served in the medical corps at the New York City debarkation hospital as sergeant first class. He was born in Luzern Switzerland June 8 1893 and came to America in 1911 settling in Green County. He married Marie Gisler February 25 1922 in St Victor s church Monroe. He worked at Klondike factory near Monroe for 23 years retiring to Monroe in 1947 and belonged to St Victor s church Holy Name Society Knights of Columbus American Legion and Swiss club. Surviving are his wife two sons Alvin and Rev Robert E Buholzer three brothers Emil Walter and William two sisters Hermine and Josephine and three grandsons. He was preceded by a brother Xavier and two sisters Lena Marie. Services Tuesday 10 am at Stuessy funeral home and 10 30 am at St Victor s church with Rev Robert E Buholzer officiating. Burial Calvary cemetery Rosary 8 Monday night at the funeral home. Friends may call after noon Monday.

Bob Becker, 71, outdoor editor of the Chicago Tribune from 1921 to 1956, died of a heart attack at his cottage in Fish Creek Wisconsin. A Beloit College graduate, he previously worked for the Field Museum in Chicago and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and was an authority on dog breeding and training.
