Benefit Draws Record Crowds in Twining Park
The Green County Shrine Club and Knights of Columbus Baldwin County benefit drew a large crowd last night in Twining Park. Proceeds fund programs for underprivileged and crippled children. Highlights included the Lions City Band Minstrel Show and a slow pitch exhibition won 9 to 1 by Park and Recreation. Local dignitaries and performers were introduced, and the event closed with a colorful waterfall display.

Weekend Wisconsin crashes claim 11 more lives

Mauston Farm Boy Killed by Lightning
Wayne Carl Stang 11, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Stang, who farm four miles north of Mauston, was killed Saturday when struck by lightning while walking on a cattle lane. Firemen found his body after responding to a field fire nearby.

Clown Diving and Ballet Highlight Colorful Aquacade
Nearly 100 Monroe swimmers took part in a one hour Aquacade at Recreation Park pool featuring water ballet, clown diving and life saving demonstrations. Fatal Air Crash Blamed on Storm Near Pike Lake
A small plane carrying Janesville men crashed in a birch grove near Pike Lake during fog and rain on a fishing trip to International Falls Minnesota. Victims were Ray Harrison owner pilot Raymond Fett John Gunderson and Martin Schleisner. Fett founded the law firm Fett Murphy and Rude. Harrison owned a local Chevrolet dealership. Gunderson ran the Eagles bar. Schleisner was a Wisconsin Telephone Co. foreman. Fett was attorney and founder of Fett Murphy and Rude.

An 18 year old former Kenosha youth Donald Bowman hanged himself in an Antigo jail cell Sunday night Sheriff James Aird said Bowman was arrested July 30 after pointing a gun at deputies and had been charged with burglary and auto theft since then.
