Flames Consume Juda Storage Shed and Injure Pharmaceutical Plant
A 40 by 60 foot wooden storage shed at Carter and Gruenewald Co. Inc. in Juda burned after 10 a.m. The Juda Fire Department, aided by Monroe and Brodhead crews, kept flames from spreading to the main buildings. Six tractors and other equipment were destroyed, a propane tank was cooled, and cause is unknown with explosions heard as flames raged for 45 minutes.

Badger Cage Berth Eyed Tom Mitchell to Receive UW Scholarship
Monroe High School senior Tom Mitchell announced he will enter the University of Wisconsin this fall on a scholarship. He will study in the School of Letters and Science then enter Law School and hopes to contribute on the Badger basketball team. Mitchell, son of Monroe Coach Lee Mitchell, is an honor student with ongoing A honors, previously named All-Badger Conference and All-State Tournament, and ranks high in league scoring. He also excels in golf, played football as a freshman, and serves on the youth council. He is nicknamed "the snake" for his ball hawking style.

Navy Academy Appointment For Monroe High School Senior
David Deininger of Monroe High School won an appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland. The 1965 graduate, Eagle Scout and former Badger Boys State delegate will report June 30 to begin a four year course, aiming to graduate in 1969 as an ensign. He enters a contest between Sen. Proxmire and Rep. Kastenmeier for the appointment after both indicated offers by telegram and phone.

Monroe officials appeal for volunteers to aid cleanup after the Palm Sunday tornado. Mayor Walter R. Ekum notes supervised student groups should report to the Community Center. Red Cross and Civil Defense set up at the old Dairy Queen building to coordinate aid through Sunday.
