Four Injured In Area Crash Near Brodhead
Four Brodhead area residents were injured when a car left a graveled curve near Young's tavern north of Brodhead, tore down 42 feet of fence, and struck a tree. Driver William Allen Gilbert 21 and passenger Stanley Whitehead 23 sustained injuries. Bette Foslin 22 suffered a left arm fracture and knee cut, Neil Bliss 21 had cuts and bruises, Alice Foslin 17 was not hurt. Gilbert and Foslin and Whitehead were taken to St Clare hospital, Whitehead expected to be dismissed soon.

An American traveler, Jack Rodney Nash of Memphis, 31, was sucked from an Air France Super Constellation at 18 000 feet after a window burst near his seat. The plane landed with an escape door missing near Kirkuk, Iraq, and Nash is presumed dead. His parents arrived in Paris aboard a similar aircraft to pursue the investigation in Istanbul.

State's Traffic Toll Rises to 217 for '57
