Pierce Named Board Chairman For Ninth Time
C S Pierce supervisor from Brodhead First Ward was reelected County Board Chairman. The board approved transferring 4000 from General Fund to the County Disaster Relief Fund for tornado cleanup. New welfare board members were elected to replace defeated incumbents and Thomas R. Smith and James C. Volkert joined the board from Monroe Wards. Myron Stair was named First Vice Chairman and Joshua Hoesly named Second Vice Chairman. The board supported PKU testing for children and a bill for mandatory screening.

Council Approves 13000 For City Road Widening Project
Aldermen voted unanimously to appropriate 13000 as the city share for widening and resurfacing a 0.4 mile stretch of Highway 11 within the city. The work aims to improve a former tornado ravaged area and align with a future north south Highway 69 inter section planned for 1967. The city also adopted a parking commission ordinance to boost downtown parking and discussed transfer credit preparatory college prospects as dim due to few high school graduates.

The Times announces a special tornado edition titled Monroe's Tragedy Palm Sunday 1965 to be released tomorrow at noon. It includes extra pages with Friday and Saturday stories and photos for 25 cents plus 10 cents for mailing. The initial 3,000 copies sold quickly, and 5,000 more are being published though supplies remain limited.
