Hundreds of county homemakers attended the Achievement Day Fair at Turner hall where the first Past Presidents Club was organized. The new group will meet at the Fugene hotel for a noon luncheon each year on Achievement Day with Mrs. Sam Waelti of Monroe elected president and Mrs. Theda May of Brownstown named secretary.

Beloit Couple Welcome Fourth Twin Set This Year
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Shaw of Beloit are parents to a twin son John Glen born at 12 31 p m and a daughter Brenda Lynn born at 12 27 p m yesterday at St Clare hospital. The couple have three older children Lris Richard and David. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs John Shaw Beloit and Mr and Mrs Henry Moseley Blackpool England. Other local twins born this year include Norris Ula Blanchardville Lawrence Winger Argyle and Philip L Stein er Argyle.

The Assembly backed a bill allowing taverns to stay open later during summer months with DST. the measure moves to the Senate where a similar bill passed. Municipalities would decide applicability and the current 1 a.m. closing time could shift, with Milwaukee at 2 a.m. under current law. The session also saw bills on dairy inspector experience, bus driver exams, a two year farm experience alternative, and a state employe vacation schedule.

Gov Gaylord Nelson announced the appointment of Janesville Police Chief Jasper A Webb to the State Crime Laboratory Board. Webb serves as chief since 1944 and began law enforcement in Beloit in 1931. His term ends in March 1963 and requires Senate confirmation.

Penniston, Ford mechanic, dies at 57 in South Wayne
Gordon Penniston aged 57, longtime Ford Motor Co. worker, died at home after several weeks of illness. Born July 1, 1901 in Argyle, he was a mechanic formerly of Monroe before moving to South Wayne 24 years ago. Survived by wife Cleo Cline, twin sons Darrell and Dwayne, sister Mrs. Edgar Jacobs, and three grandchildren. Funeral at South Wayne Methodist Church with burial in Union Cemetery.

Counties Join In Civil Defense Spring Exercise
At 10 30 a m Friday county communities will participate in a statewide Civil Defense drill. Sirens will sound in many towns and radio updates go to the sheriff's department. Emergency posts will be set at the Courthouse tower with deputies in mobile radios and an auxiliary police unit guard against looting and sabotage.

Dedication Planned Open House At Monroe High School
The Board of Education set May 24 for a public open house at Monroe's new high school on 16th avenue south end. A state school official may deliver the dedicatory address. Delays in painting and final construction hold back full dress condition and grounds grading. Discussions included seeding landscaping and a conference with the architect's engineer on football field grade and a proposed eight lane track around the field. No Pupil Missing In Mishicot Scare
Manitowoc County officers searched for a driver of a blue white station wagon who allegedly tried to lure a Holy Cross Mishicot pupil into his car while another girl reported a similar sighting. All pupils at Holy Cross and the public school were accounted for after inspection. The case was linked to a Milwaukee kidnap killing as authorities checked the vehicle pattern and compared it to the Ben Wagner case. Milwaukee police later cleared a 25 year old Sparta man as a suspect in the Wagner disappearance.

Child T Bitten by Dog In Neighborhood Incident
Christine Marie Humbel six-year-old daughter of a local undersheriff was severely bitten on the face by a dog tied outside a residence at 3 15 p m. She underwent two hours of surgery at St Clare Hospital and had more than 40 stitches.
