Commissioners redeputize eight deputies after sheriff death
In open session the board redeputized eight deputies following Sheriff John Ashcraft's death and Keele's succession. Keele asked to approve hiring Jerry Rutherford as jailer and promotions for Ed Wootton to chief deputy and Joe Collazo to deputy, with Collazo a former jailer. The board also extended a two year contract with Ken Wright, golf pro, noting excellent course conditions and seeking one more full time worker and several truckloads of dirt. Other actions included approving Goldie Childs' quarterly treasurer report, various officers' reports, and accounts payable of 212939.80.
