A Broadway of America Motorcade will halt in Monahans Saturday at 8:15 a.m. as part of its coast to coast tour toward Memphis for the Broadway of America Highway Association convention. West Side Grocery Destroyed by Fire on Monday
A fire of unknown origin destroyed the West Side Grocery around 2:30 am Monday. Firemen in a new truck battled the blaze but could not stop it as no nearby fire plug existed. the nearest was in the downtown district three to four blocks away. Owner J. L. Fire destroys Wickett home of John Crosson

Tragic note found with Dolberry ends in suicide at Royalty
Louis Dolberry, 18, employed at the Texas Theatre in Royalty, died from a self inflicted gunshot in a dance hall after writing a farewell note to his former sweetheart Miss Mary Lee Myer. A coroner's inquest attributed the death to personal safety related gun wounds. Funeral services were held in Carbon, Texas. He is survived by his mother Mrs. Boyd Chesshire.
