Captains Named For Foreign Born Citizens Parade

Mobile relief meeting names group captains for the July 4 parade to honor foreign born citizens. Captains from Austro Hung ary Britain Ireland and Canada to Norway France Denmark and other nations plan units and badges with miniature U S flags. Group captains must report at Mobile Relief Hall at 9 AM on July 4 as plans are finalized for the loyalty parade.

Tribute Follows 80 Year Old Julia Greeley in Denver

Julia Greeley who rose from slavery in the South to serve Denver’s poor received state honors as thousands filed past her bier. A high mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral was led by Father McDowell with John Conway as subdeacon. She nursed Governor Gilpin’s children and donated earnings to those in need, often at night to avoid public attention.

Women Form Mobile War Work Service Body

Plateau Negro Held for Federal Court

Bynum George, a Plateau negro, was arrested by federal officers for contempt of draft regulations. He appeared before United States Commissioner Burgett Monday afternoon, held on $500 bonds, and awaits action by the federal grand jury. Testimony showed he registered and was classified and answered his questionnaire, but ignored the order when summoned before the board.
