Corn Palace Decoration Dazzles at Mitchell 1904
The 1904 Corn Palace in Mitchell stands as a royal tribute to corn. Designer Col A Roche of Lawrence Kansas outdoes prior efforts with broad, colorful patterns using red white and yellow corn. Towers, gables and interiors feature intricate corn mosaics and Navajo motifs. All decorations are locally grown within Davison County and showcase county exhibits proving local grain can rival any outside source.
