In Sioux Falls South Dakota on September 22 Louis Tyler 12 accidentally injured his brother Fred 12 when a shotgun discharged. Louis thrust Fred s arm into a flour barrel to stem bleeding saving his life. Fred remains hospitalized but should recover barring infection.
Beadle county bar met after circuit court in Huron South Dakota to adopt resolutions on the death of attorney Wicke W. Wheeler. Speakers included Judge A W Burtt Coe J Crawford Colonel W A Lynch and others. Resolutions were placed on court records and a copy sent to Wheeler’s family as the calendar was cleared for the September 29 session.
At Spencer South Dakota during the carnival yesterday a brawl erupted between Texas transient threshermen and local youths sparked by a foot race dispute. The marshal was struck down as special police arrived and arrests followed. Knives and guns were drawn but no serious injuries reported.
Aberdeen South Dakota September 22 An interesting legal point arises in the case of John Connell found guilty of possessing more chickens than allowed The justice fined Connell fifteen dollars plus costs and gave time to pay or face jail Connell has not paid the commitment has been issued and his attorney says a writ of habeas corpus will free him if imprisoned arguing the case was not entered on the docket as required by law
Thomas Cunniffe of Aberdeen known for running the Pantorium has vanished after borrowing money from Oren Champlin and a Columbia man. He left a half interest in the business as security and did not return from Groton. His sweetheart's gold watch is also missing.
Principal R L Kirk oversees selection for the Aberdeen high school football eleven as 25 candidates compete after a strong previous season. The opener is set for September 24 against Redfield high school.
The Groton Vigilant society, formed to curb horse theft in Brown county, offers a $500 reward for the capture of the thief or thieves who stole Senator Koepsel's fine team last week. No definite clues on the thieves route from Groton have been found.
The last pair of rails has been laid by the steel gang for the South Dakota Central Railroad. An independent line runs northward from Sioux Falls toward Colton. The work train reached the new Colton depot and regular service is slated to begin soon with necessary rolling stock in place. The first twenty mile section is completed and ready for business.
In Beadle County South Dakota on a Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Duesler wife of William Duesler living four miles northeast of Cavour died almost instantly when a tug in the hay field harness broke and a single tree struck her breast. She was about 55 and mother to a family of grown children.
Miller South Dakota Sept 19 a government cattle dipping inspector S S Wakely and three assistants were scalded when a boiler exploded at the Tuttle ranch north of here. The blast sent fragments and coal sparks that started a prairie fire requiring quick actions to subdue. Barrows mother of traveling salesman Charles Barrows died at his home in Huron aged 74 after long Massachusetts origins.
Drilling on the Ira O. Curtiss farm near Aberdeen has reached within four feet of the main coal vein and has yielded drift coal that burns well and looks promising. Mr Curtiss and project partners are hopeful for paying quantities of coal.
Sioux Falls reports the outgoing Rt. Rev. Thomas O Gorman Catholic bishop of South Dakota traveling to Watertown to administer confirmation to fifty five persons. He plans to visit Kranzburg Waverly and Esterly on church business in the coming days.
Rev. FP. Pp. Leach general secretary of the South Dakota Sunday School association travels from Sioux Falls to Yankton to spoke at a Sunday school convention. He will attend a delegate meeting to organize county associations under his direction.

In Miller the macaroni wheat crop shows high yields with 16 to 22 bushels per acre and a 63 pound bushel weight, priced at 73 cents versus 90 cents for common wheat.

The new Aberdeen government building is finished at a cost of 175000 dollars. It will house the post office internal revenue collector and land office once Washington approves. The three story granite and I Wasota stone structure offers ample space for years to come. John Connell and John Morris were acquitted of shipping game outside the state but Connell fined 15 dollars plus costs for possessing more than the legal number of prairie chickens.
Bridgewater South Dakota September 17 G I Todd sold the Emerson Johnson farm of 153 acres to Joseph H Martin Warren Illinois for 9000 cash, the highest price for a McCook county quarter section. Dr T Newton reports 20 bushels per acre wheat from 410 acres and notes corn maturing with expectations of a heavier yield than earlier forecast.
The Huron district presbytery held a two part installation service for Rev. J. P. Anderson as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Huron. Rev. Hugh Robison preached, Rev. W. L. Notestein charged the pastor, and Rev. Erwin Brows charged the people. The event drew a large attendance and the new pastor received a warm welcome.
In Huron South Dakota on September 17 Gusti Allen was sentenced in circuit court to fifteen days in county jail and a $50 fine for assault with a dangerous weapon.
Madison September 17 Justice Siebecker surprised the Wisconsin Supreme Court by recusing himself from the ballot case citing personal and political conflicts involving a relative. He left the bench immediately after the announcement. H W Chynoweth, for the La Follette faction, argued continued opposition to the court’s jurisdiction. Siebecker is Governor La Follette’s brother in law.

Delmon Simmons, 16, son of A D Simmons, died after a hunting accident on the lake shore. Vincent Wadden, also a boy, fired at ducks from tall grass a few feet away and discharged a full duck shot charge into Simmons’ back near the left shoulder blade, making a three inch hole.
A Chicago auto crash at Twentieth Street and Michigan Avenue left Miss Neva Scott seriously injured and six others slightly hurt. Passengers planned to head to St. Louis. a stretched hose caused the car to swerve and hit the curb. The male travelers aided the shaken women before medical help arrived.
The Sovereign Lodge in San Francisco elected officers for its fiftieth annual session with Robert Ik. Wright of Allentown Pa. named grand sire and BE Conway of Chicago chosen as deputy grand sire. J. Frank Grant of Baltimore was re elected grand secretary and M. Richard Mackie of Philadelphia re elected grand treasurer. The next meeting place was postponed.
Sioux City markets report hogs mixed and butcher prices 5.80 to 5.85, cattle fat cows and heifers 2.20 to 3.25, stockers and feeders up to 3.70, calves 2.25 to 5.41. Chicago receipts hogs steady 5.70 to 6.20, cattle 20 000 slow, sheep steady 2.85 to 4.25, lambs 2.70.

Closing cash prices for wheat corn oats rye barley and flax were listed. Wheat ranged with No 1 hard at 31.16 and No 2 northern near 1.14 to arrive 1.15, flax at 31.24 to arrive 1.24, and other grades shown for corn oats and barley.
