Big Barn Destroyed by Lightning in Union Township
Wm. M. Herbert and landseekers witnessed a massive fire Friday night when a lightning strike hit a 60 by 100 foot barn on Hans Lange’s farm. The barn held 600 bushels of oats 60 tons of hay and twelve stacks of wheat. Neighbors moved property to safety but the structure burned with no water nearby. insurance status unknown. It was the largest barn in the area and a heavy loss for Lange.
