Convention closes with Raney gold medal win and Ramsey elected
The five day state W T U convention opened Friday at the Baptist church with Mrs Luella A Ramsey of Woonsocket elected president for an eighth year. Miss Grace Van Vleet and Mrs Cora Aldrich were among late arrivals. Miss Kara Smart led a praise service before sailing for Japan. Delegates reported generally progress despite some discouraging notes.

The Saturday afternoon session of the convention featured devotional led by Mrs. O. Norris of Webster and reports from Grace Van Vleet and Nellie Reed on youth branches. Mrs. Ramsey of Woonsocket delivered an offhand yet carefully prepared annual message. Members welcomed Rev. Drewett and others as part of light, lively entries. A rousing conference followed in the afternoon.

Sunday reports show one of the state’s best W C T U conventions. Miss Marie C. Brehm, state president, addressed the gathering after key sessions on Rescue Work and the White Ribbon Journal. The journal is now self supporting with $1 dues delivering copies to all paid members. About 1800 copies monthly. A S T L conference and a mothers meeting discussed curfew bell policy and its positive effects.

Gold Medal Contest at W C T U Convention
The fourteenth annual W C T U convention concluded with the grand gold medal contest at the courthouse on Monday evening. A good audience cheered contestants as flowers and district banners decorated the judge’s bench. Mrs. Clara McDonald of Highmore directed the event and earlier Mrs. Cora Aldrich of Sioux Falls read a parable like paper.

The event featured a ladies quartet Miss Mary Tomlin Marjorie Ruth Hiraz Vermilyen and Fannie McCormick and soloists Mrs Emily Bras Grace and Mr Fred Kratz.
