County option campaign gains farmers in South Dakota
Rev Walter M Grafton of the Anti Saloon League leads county option clubs across South Dakota to push a statewide prohibition measure. He argues farmers should vote as majorities in all counties and claims county option would place prohibition in every town, despite opposition from some business interests. He contends farmers pay taxes and bear courthouse costs, and that current law allows colonizing voters to influence license questions. He asserts the majority rule should extend to farm districts and questions who should decide saloon presence in a town.
