Mitchell to gain new postoffice quarters after Postmaster Bros. notified Washington of cramped conditions. Charles M. Waters reviewed the site and invited bids for leased building fitted for postal use with vaults and sewer connection. Bids accepted until October 21 with possible new construction and updated furnishings for the post office.

Mitchell Triumphs Over Yankton In Tepid Showdown At Athletic Park

A modest crowd watched Mitchell defeat Yankton 24 to 0 at Athletic Park Monday afternoon. Mitchell dominated the first half with end runs and steady ball control, while Yankton showed timid early play and could not mount a sustained challenge. The game wore on with Mitchell keeping the ball and finishing stronger in the second half.

A pattern of horse and buggy thefts continues at Main and First streets with a third rig stolen in months. Sheriff Swindler issued notices and telegraph alerts as officers search for the culprits and urge swift arrest to halt the activity.

A horse and buggy stolen from Main and First streets Sunday night was recovered Monday afternoon in a corn field on Carl Anderson’s farm nine miles southwest of the city. Ernest Wilson, a relative of the owner, found the outfit wandering in a cornfield with lines tied to the dashboard. The wagon was brought to town and turned over to the sheriff.
