John Porter a well off farmer near Letcher pleaded guilty after being accused of stealing from Champeny Bros. He confessed and returned to his buggy with deputy Brooks. He was sentenced to ten days in jail and fined ten dollars after agreeing to pay Champeny damages of twenty five dollars.
