The Nation will conduct its twelfth census in June and finish by early July 1900. About fifty thousand enumerators are needed to record roughly seventy-five million people in thirty days, or two and a half million daily, with faster completion in towns over eight thousand. Enumerators work without aid, except interpreters in areas with many foreigners, and wages vary by workload.
