Volunteers' Reception for Returned Soldiers Honored
The Bachelor Club hosted a graceful reception at The Mitchell for returned volunteers. A military escort and Rathbun's orchestra set a festive scene with flags and bunting while Major Warne and other officers led a grand march. The event drew large attendance and offered an evening of enjoyable dancing and appreciation.

Winding Up Affairs of Soldiers Fare Reimbursement
Aberdeen News reports that the soldiers' home-coming finance committee, led by Chairman F A Brown, will hold a meeting soon to wind up its affairs. About 150 first regiment members discharged before October 6 mus ter out paid their own fares, and the committee plans pro rata repayment if funds allow. Quiet wedding at Plotner house unites Miller and Roberts
William Miller and Ollie Roberts wed Monday afternoon in the Plotner house with Rev. A. D. D. Fraser officiating. The bride traveled from Etherton Illinois and arrived last Wednesday. Miller arrived from White Lake. Guests offered best wishes as the couple left by train for their home.

Governor visits Aberdeen on site for state buildings
Governor Lee traveled to Aberdeen on Saturday to inspect sites offered for the state industrial and normal school. Only one title was ready, a tract on West Hill south of the Brooks residence, but Grace land east of the city between Second and Fourth avenues has since been subscribed to reach twenty acres. Grace location was formally offered before he left. He has until the first of the year to decide.

In Omaha's Postal Service G W Coolley, long serving on the Aberdeen to Sioux City route, has been reassigned to the Omaha road. He now runs between Mitchell and Worthington Minnesota, enabling him to be at home every evening.
