The Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Mitchell district held its first annual convention at the M. E. church. About 50 ladies attended, with papers read and programs presented. Officers elected were A. C. Stevens president, Heidler vice president, J. H. Whitman recording secretary, R. B. Hager corresponding secretary, and M. I. Calder treasurer. The event was considered a gratifying success.
A 1600 acre Barnum and Draper ranch near Running Water changes hands to I W Seaman of Mitchell in one of the season’s largest real estate deals. The property includes cattle facilities, water works, feed lots, and proximity to a Milwaukee Railroad switch. Seaman plans an elevator and grain handling, with 400 acres cultivated and 1000 hay land. He now controls over 3000 acres and leases nearby land, with plans to run 600 cattle this season and to feed many this winter. He does not plan to move from Mitchell despite the purchase.
