Mitchell Leaders Back Dakota University Building Drive

Mitchell Business Men's League urged support for a new Dakota University building with a target of 30,000 dollars. Dr. Graham outlined expanded facilities needed as rooms overflow and enrollment reaches 323 from 40 counties. An initial 10,000 dollar pledge was set, with an executive committee formed to raise the rest.

County Convention of W C T U Held in Lisbon Township

The W C T U county convention met at the Wright school house in Lisbon township on Friday. A strong turnout despite morning wind heard county union reports, with plans for progressive work next year and special focus on L T L youth. Officers elected: president Flora Wilson Badger, vice president Reitzel Lisbon, recording secretary Mary Slade Badger, corresponding secretary Betts Mr Vernon, treasurer Lily McEwen Mr Vernon. Memorials were paid to Mrs. Peck Badger and Mrs. Chapin Mitchell. Geo H Brooks named acting deputy sheriff during Deputy Koch’s gardening.

Epworth League Marks Tenth Anniversary at Methodist Church

Epworth League Celebrates Tenth Anniversary Service

The Senior Epworth League marked its tenth anniversary at the Methodist church with a full crowd. Ethel Huyck traced the group’s growth, Pastor Stevens spoke on departmental work, and junior graduates received diplomas. Officers for both leagues were installed and Holy vows read. Senior membership stands at 75, Junior at 50 under Miss June Conner.

Ministers condemn press attacks and back anti liquor stance

At the Mitchell District Ministerial Association meeting in Mt. Vernon South Dakota the group denounced the Argus Leader and other state papers for attacking Rev. A. E. Carhart and his brotherhood. They pledge unity behind their superintendent and renew their resolve to make the Anti-Saloon League the fiercest foe of liquor in the state.
