A wife recounts four pregnancies and says she endured long painful labors with two births requiring chloroform. She used three bottles of Mother's Friend before her last child, a large healthy boy, and claims the liniment let her perform housework two hours before birth. She calls it the grandest remedy.
The April 28 1900 special meeting of the Mitchell county commission approved county bills and detailed exhibits from the Dakota Post Mt Vernon News and Mitchell Printing Co. They set tax and poll rules for 1900, adopted a dog tax and rate schedule, and authorized a bridge bid between Lisbon and Union townships. J W Gilfillan S J Moore presided. H B Anderson audited.

The sheriff treasurer, auditor and clerk of court drew the jury list Monday for the May term of court. The regular term begins May 15, the third Tuesday, with several interesting cases slated for trial.
The G A R encampment set for June 19 2021 features a campfire in the Jim river grove three miles east of the city. A morning parade will ride a special free train to the grove for a courtesy repast and war stories before returning for supper and evening programs at the grain palace. Local committees promise varied entertainments and free sleeping quarters with blankets required.
Rénick Hamilton of West Jefferson Ohio suffered 18 months from a rectal fistula and faced death per doctors. He treated himself with five boxes of Bucklen's Arnica Salve, touted as the surest pile cure, paying 25 cents a box. S.H. Scallin, druggist, sold the salve.
