Steltz admits murder in bank mate robbery case
Sioux Falls court hears John Steltz alias John Clark plead guilty to the March 16 killing of Theodore Lothman in a cabin near the Big Sioux river. He is sentenced to life in the Sioux Falls penitentiary after confessing also to a Philadelphia murder years earlier. Gustav Kam mel faces trial for the alleged poisoning of his wife during the winter. A preliminary investigation showed an unknown person entered the home, put poison in oatmeal, making the woman and their son sick before the mother died. The son notified his father, who then went to the home and found the wife dead, leading to Kam mel’s arrest on murder charges.
Railroads Insist On Stock Inspection
Aberdeen S D April 25 By an act of the legislature of South Dakota in 1905 railroads may accept cattle shipments only if a current certificate from a recognized inspector or veterinarian states the cattle are free from infectious diseases. The Milwaukee road will enforce the law strictly and will not accept shipments without the certificate, affecting emigrant movables as well as stock.
