Dakota University selects Miss Winifred McVay for state oratorical contest

The state oratorical contest, to be held in Mitchell on May 18, will feature Dakota University represented by Miss Winifred McVay. In a Monday evening college chapel event, McVay won the local contest over five other competitors with a strong delivery and thoughtful composition. Judges ranked McVay first, Bradford second, Potter third, Devers fourth, Thomas fifth, and the audience cheered the historic win for a university woman.

Not Guilty in Hanson County Case at Alexandria Trial

Masonic Ladies Host Pleasant Last Before Lent Dance

A Masonic hall event organized by the Masonic ladies drew near all dance lovers for four hours of music and social games. Geiger Bros orchestra provided lively tunes with a round dance and quadrille selection while refreshments and whist tables offered additional entertainment. Twenty five couples attended and praised the well arranged party. The Milwaukee road resumed service between Mitchell and Aberdeen with a 7:45 PM arrival and noon return following recent snow disruptions.
