Music teacher dies in Grayville after long illness
Mrs Shanton a Grayville resident for only months dies after grip and quick consumption. Married to Rev I A Shanton in 1885 the couple had three children one died in Canada and Harold aged 9 and a newborn. She aided her husband in church work and Sunday school and often preached in his absence. Funeral at the Cumberland Presbyterian church parsonage Thursday at 3 o'clock with Rev J L Hudgins. The community mourns a beloved music loving wife mother and friend.

Former Mitchell Lady Dies in Grayville
Laura T. Shanton wife of Rev I A Shanton pastor of Cumberland Presbyterian church Grayville Illinois passed away at 6 oclock yesterday morning surrounded by loved ones. Born June 4 1855 in Elkland Tioga County Pennsylvania she grew up in Minnesota Iowa and South Dakota blending music and teaching. She was principal of the conservatory of music at Dakota University Mitchell and inspired many pupils who joined notable music programs. Her death ends a devoted career in education and church service.
