The retailer adds numerous discounted household items including sugar, baking powder, coffee, canned goods, cereals, fruit, soap, starch, tea, spices, breakfast items, and housewares. Discounts range from a few cents to about one fifth off normal prices, with broad reductions across dry goods, clothing, shoes, and linens.

Chris Kirschbaum filed a complaint before Judge Abbey accusing Porter of selling intoxicating liquor to a minor. Porter was arrested, given a hearing, and bound over to the November term of court in the amount of $200
Porter was jailed pending bond and was freed in the late afternoon after posting cash. He is alleged to habitually furnish liquor to patrons who cannot buy it at saloons, a claim tied to the ongoing incident.
A Deadwood correspondent debunks a Minneapolis Journal fairy tale claiming the Milwaukee road does not own the Chamberlain to Mitchell line but leases it. E H Aplin returned from Milwaukee where he accompanied Mr Richards to the Wautausa Sanitarium. Richards had made rapid strides toward recovery. Physicians say there are no alarming symptoms and that rest and toned health will restore him completely after extensive mental labor and poor physical exercise drained his system.
