Goodykoontz Dies. Noted Attorney Remembered in Mitchell
Frank M. Goodykoontz, 56, lifelong lawyer and public figure, died Thursday morning after a period of illness linked to an ear infection and brain abscess. Born in Indiana, he practiced in Iowa and Minnesota before settling in Mitchell, where he influenced politics, law, and local development. The Davison County Bar and community honored him at a large funeral held at the Catholic church with burial in the Catholic cemetery.

The Monmouth Merchant Mill installed a dynamo and incandescents after a lamp explosion nearly caused a fire. Manager Pollard added a red arc light atop the tower, making the mill glow at night as it runs continuously to meet orders. Friends mistook the red glow for flames and warned him by phone.
