Beginning Work On Corn Palace Restoration
Active preparations start on reconstructing the north section of the corn palace seven years after the exposition. The new wing, nearly the building’s full length and about 30 feet wide, will provide space for county exhibits. Decorator Mr Roche, from Lawrence, is secured and due tomorrow to design the exterior, with Mr Beckwith and Col Davenport coordinating grains, grasses, and rooking.

Corn Palace Work Underway At County Exhibit Center
Work began Monday as L Beckwith organized crews to enlarge the Corn Palace. Seats on the east and north sides were removed for extension using the lumber, and the north wall will be repurposed for a larger interior. The county exhibit plans include four prizes totaling 75, 50, 35, and 25 dollars to attract county participation. L O Gale in Chicago hopes to secure Payne's United States band if contract terms favor the palace, while Director Phinney’s Iowa State band memories influence hopes for strong musical attractions. The interior will be redecorated, grain gathered for decorations, and effort continues to prepare the palace for upcoming events. There is a noted shortage of red corn this year.
