Sudden death of Mitchell High School principal Prof John Pye
A few months into his role at Mitchell High School Prof John W Pye aged about 28 29 died suddenly at his home. The board of education and Superintendent Quigley sent condolences to Dr W H Fye father of the deceased. Progress of the Institute Visits Highlight Teaching Staff
The Capital representative toured the teachers institute on Tuesday, praising the thorough work of instructors Dukes Quigley Browne and Miss Wedehase. Dukes announced a lecture series on Love Labor and Laugh beginning with Love, with further talks planned. Eastman of Fayette Iowa is slated to lecture on August 26, promising a first class presentation. There are 147 teachers and scholars enrolled.

Gypsy Kettle Drum Social At St Marys Rectory
The lawn of St Marys rectory hosted a gypsy camp event by the Ladies Guild on Friday evening. Lanterns and a large engine headlight set a glowing scene as tents formed a wandering tribe with Mies Nellie Lester as queen. Patrons paid for hidden future readings and were treated to ice cream lemonade coffee and sandwiches by guild members in gypsy costumes amid pleasant outdoor weather.
