First Trouble With Tramps Disrupts City Railload
This summer the tramps clashed with rail officials as about 200 gathered around the north freight at the Milwaukee depot. Supt. Scott of Aberdeen ordered the train not to carry them, but the mob attempted to board. Sheriff Cook swore in twelve deputies to enforce the departure and prevent delays.

Field runs a jewelry business in Alexandria.

Mrs Maria Bennett wife of B H Bennett died at home two miles north of town Friday evening aged 74 after two strokes within a year She was born August 23 1823 in Orange County New York married March 5 1845 and resided in the county since Then six children survive with a husband a funeral at the Methodist church was held Sunday with many mourners in attendance

Former Mitchell engineer draws two widows into dispute
Mrs Ella White of Prairie du Chien and Mrs Anna Edgecombe of Sheldon both courted 54 year old widower Al Mead, once an engineer on the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul line. The women confronted each other at the police station after Edgecombe said Mead favored her, while White claimed a long love and engagement. The matron noted the dispute but reported no resolution.
