A busy Milwaukee depot scene as passengers from Mitchell prepare to ride to Buffalo. A Wagner sleeping car attached to the east train, with many berths filled by Mitchell residents and others from the west. New Chairman Elected at County Republican Meet
Late Saturday the county central committee elected a new chair and filled a vacancy. Chas Hedden resigns to move to Hanson County. his father J. C. Hedden was chosen to fill the vacancy. H. L. Bras, editor of the South Dakota Educator, was elected chairman and also named as the Mitchell east side township representative.

The Bryant Post details the death of John W. Pye born October 15 1868 in New Point Decatur county Indiana and died August 17 1897 at Bryant South Dakota at age nearly twenty nine. It notes a sudden death after a day of apparent health and includes a poem and an obituary style recounting.

Sewer Improvements Begin In City
At 7 a.m. Tuesday a small crew started sewer improvement work at Main and Second streets, with J A Brown overseeing. About 3,000 feet of new sewer will be laid, and a larger crew is to arrive by mid next week as labor is tight. Frank Kelly of Schaler, Iowa, arrived on the excursion train from Sioux City to visit his sisters.
